Company History
1972 – 1973: The Beginning
In the nostalgic year of 1972, the founder started as a collector of decorative, contemporary and inspirational posters in the suburb of Kuala Lumpur. Encouraged by friends appreciating the range of beautiful and inspiring motives of the contemporary posters, he then decided to take on the passion and enthusiasm as a full scale business.
In 1973 the founder visited United Kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, Italy and France to get support and secure agency rights for the art print and poster products.
1973 – 1989: DECORS ‘Art Print & Modern Poster Shop’ ~ The First in Malaysia
In early 1973, DECORS started as a small modern and beautiful poster shop at the first Modern Shopping Complex in Malaysia – Ampang Park Shopping Complex located at Kuala Lumpur city center. This inspired house owners, companies and hotels to decorate and beautify their home, office and workplace environment at affordable pricing. The business became an instant success as decorating with art prints and modern posters became a popular trend in home furnishing.
DECORS was the first Art Print & Modern Poster Shop in Malaysia, an art gallery with a range of exclusive imported art prints and posters of famous renowned classic and contemporary artist from around the world - mainly works of art of artist from Europe (Italy, France, England), Scandinavia, America and Japan.

As business grow, a second branch of DECORS was opened at Wisma Central near Jalan Ampang in 1978. This center was setup as a distribution center for supplying art print and poster products to homes, gift shops, cafeterias, high-end restaurants, department stores, hotels and furniture shops throughout the country.
In 1979, DECORS started a picture framing division for quality control and started modern and classic framing to further bring the business to the next level.
DECORS further widen its product range with Graphic Art Posters imported from America. This new range of products is suitable for modern home, office and hotel. At the same time modern aluminum frames and mounting boards from United Kingdom were imported to match the contemporary arts from United States.

The following year in 1981, DECORS started importing molding cutters from Denmark and board cutters from United Kingdom which was then supplied to frame shops throughout the country. This became a trend in Malaysia and changed the concept of framing pictures.
In 1980, DECORS opened the third Art Print & Modern Poster Shop at Bukit Bintang Plaza located at the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur and continued to be a leading company specializing in art prints and posters.

1980 – 1998: Beyond Classic Art & Contemporary Poster Market
Simultaneously in 1980, the company also represented products from a big Danish chemical company. The line of products includes foam bath, shampoo and cleaning solutions imported from Denmark that were supplied to several major department stores and cleaning industries.
In 1990, the company also introduced a range of art & craft education toys from Denmark to the Malaysian market which was supplied to art shops, gift shops and toy shops.
The company also had a short stint in the scent and fragrance business, incorporating perfume products with art and craft creating creative products such aromatic decorative terra cotta vases.

1999 – 2013: Hippers Original ~ Widening Market Reach & Diversifying Product Range
In the ever
transforming business world, change is inevitable as market requirements
deviate and effects caused by the impact of technological advancement. In order
to stay competitive and to survive in the era of globalization, the company
took a bold step to widen its international market reach and diversify the
product range in order to stay up-to-date with the current market requirements.

Original was established in 1999 as a trading company with a new global
direction. Primarily focused on product sourcing activities, the company
successfully managed many import and export activities specifically for the
needs of many large and small organizations.
In the
early 2000s, Hippers Original introduced and imported various products from
South Korea and Taiwan which was specifically selected to supply and meet the
needs of small businesses in Malaysia. Latest products of the times that were
introduced include inkjet cartridges, jigsaw cutting machine, personalized
jigsaw, business card cutting machine, transfer papers and many other
attractive products.
As the global
shift of international manufacturing were focused in China as the factory
center in the mid-2000s, Hippers Original expanded its businesses as a sourcing
company with localized associates all over China to manage and supervise our
operations, personally looking into the quality check, pre-delivery inspection,
packing/packaging, loading into containers, couriers, proper documentation as
well as other related activities. The main objective is to ensure quality of
product before it is exported and to provide information for clients to track
the progress of their imports all through from production to shipment. In 2006,
Hippers Original through its operations in China secured a large order of Par
Can lighting which was shipped to United States.
In 2009,
Hippers Original launched its official website www.hippersoriginal.com as a prime
step to expand the company’s international market reach.
Hippers
Original was also a major importer of electric buggies to Malaysia since 2005,
marketing a wide range of vehicles including Classic Buggy, Modern Buggy,
Conventional Buggy, Coach Buggy, Indoor Buggy, Commercial Buggy, Security Buggy
and Ambulance Buggy. The buggies were supplied to many renown hotels, resorts,
parks and government departments throughout Malaysia.
Besides our
primary focus of supplying electric buggies, Hippers Original also specializes
in industrial, sports and home flooring. Some of the main flooring supplies
that we market include artificial grass, interlock sport tile and rubber
flooring.
